GPLers:
Please see the message below from Ron Singh at ODOT. We need to appoint
one person to represent OGIC on the OAR Advisory Committee to implement
SB877 related to the Oregon Coordinate Reference System. By this
message, I am requesting GPL to provide a recommendation to OGIC for a
representative to the Advisory Committee. We need that recommendation
by the end of this month so that I can get OGIC approval by Ron's
deadline of August 12. The first Advisory Committee meeting with be
August 24. Diana, could you please coordinate this? I'm sending this
to the listserver to speed things up, as time is short.

Subject: OAR resulting from Senate Bill 877
As you are probably aware, Senate Bill 877 passed both the House and the
Senate and was signed by the Governor on June 1st, 2011. The bill went
into effect immediately upon his signature which directs ODOT to develop
an Oregon Administrative Rule to contain coordinate system definitions
as described in the bill. This OAR must be in effect on January 2, 2012
at which time the amendments of portions of ORS 209 and ORS 390 and the
repeal of portions of ORS 93 take effect. The bill also directs ODOT to
appoint an Advisory Committee to approve the development and future
amendments of this rule. Senate Bill 877 requires the Advisory
Committee to consist of 2 members representing ODOT, 2 County Surveyors,
2 professional surveyors in private practice in Oregon, and 1 member
representing the Oregon Geographic Information Council.
I expect the following workload for this committee:
1. 3 hour meeting in Salem on Wednesday, 24 August, 2011 (9:00 am to
Noon)
2. Possible short phone conferences in September and October
3. Possible 2 Hour meeting in Salem (November or December)
4. Once the OAR is in effect, the committee will only be required if
any amendments are needed. This may be conducted as phone conferences
or via email communication.
The reason for this email is to solicit membership for this OAR Advisory
Committee. Please solicit your membership and provide me with names
as shown below:
Jim Elam - 2 County Surveyors (OACES)
Gary Anderson - 2 Private Surveyors (PLSO)
Cy Smith - 1 representative (OGIC)
Please provide me these names and contact information by 12 August,
2011.
Regards,
Ron
