[HealthyTribes] Public Health Week op-ed

Colleagues,
 
As you know, this week is National Public Health Week. It*s a great
opportunity to use the new HPCDP message frame to announce your grants,
discuss the great work you*re doing in your local communities to promote
health and ask your community members to join the effort. 
 
Attached is an op-ed that we have developed for your use. There are
places where you can customize it with your local data and wins. We have
also included a placeholder for your author*s contact information. As
it*s written, a great author is you or someone within your public
health department. If possible, try to keep the op-ed under 500 words
and feel free to cut back where you feel it*s appropriate once you
customize with your local information/data.
 
Tips for submitting an op-ed:Look online for the opinion page editor.
If one doesn*t exist, send to the general editor. 
Include a very brief email to the editor saying why you think this
op-ed is important and interesting to readers. Use the National Public
Health Week observance as a news hook. 
Don*t send the attachment as an attachment. Instead, copy and paste the
op-ed into the bottom of your email. 
Call the editor the next day to pitch the op-ed placement over the
phone. 
Once it runs, think about how you might promote it. Include a link on
your website, newsletters? Send an email and link to our local
coalitions? Use the placement in future meetings and presentations?
