Hello Tribal Coordinators,
I'm are pleased to let you know that recorded version of the Webinar on No-Smoking Policies in Tribal Housing, featuring stories from tribal housing authorities in the Pacific Northwest that have successfully adopted no-smoking policies is available on HPCDP Connection and on smokefreehousinginfo.com (links are below). The Oregon Smokefree Housing Project partnered with the Northwest Indian Housing Association, TPEP, and the housing authorities of Coquille, Tlingit-Haida and Aleutian Tribes to bring you this webinar.
Your own Connie Carter, TPEP Coordinator from the Coquille Tribe, is one of the featured presenters along with her tribal housing partner, Anne Shane. The story from the Aleutian Tribe in Alaska is very inspiring. Patty Paulus, the presenter and champion of the policy is a smoker, and four out of five of her Board members also smoke, yet they lead their agency to adopt a very good no-smoking policy that brought safe and healthy housing to tribal members.
If you missed the original live airing of this webinar, please do check it out and maybe even watch it with your local tribal housing partners; or encourage your housing partners to watch it with their board members, tribal members and staff.
Go to http://smokefreehousinginfo.com/pages/TribalHousing.html and click on "webinar." The webinar is also posted to the Tobacco Page of HPCDP Connection - look under "Tribal Tobacco Policy<https://partners.health.oregon.gov/PARTNERS/HPCDPCONNECTION/TOBACCO/Pages/index.aspx>" at the bottom of the page. Remember HPCDP Connection is a password protected site for HPCDP grantees. Please share the webinar with non-TPEP partners via Diane's web site (rather than sharing the HPCDP Connection password).
Both Diane and I would be interested to hear your feedback on this webinar, and if it is a helpful tool for you. Feel free to let Diane (diane.laughter at comcast.net<mailto:diane.laughter at comcast.net>) or me know. Enjoy!
Best,
Kati
