Good Morning!

In preparation for the 2015 Oregon Healthy Teens (OHT) survey, OHA (HPCDP) wanted to find out whether "our" wording would be understood by today's youth. Working with DHM research, we administered two youth focus groups in Portland among 15-17 year old students (tobacco users and non-users), to test the reliability and validity of potential questions on the OHT survey, assessing youth behaviors related to tobacco use/products to guide questions on the OHT 2015 survey. The goal for HPCDP was to understand word choices and terms, as well as understand youth culture and behaviors around tobacco use/products.

We hope that you find these results useful for current and future work around communication with youth and tobacco use.

The results from the focus group are attached.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks,

Shira
