Hello All,
Thank you for getting information out Jenica, and to the SW RSN for taking the initiative to get a date and location on the calendar, it's a big help!
I wanted to clarify one point in the email, see my added edited text below. I just want to be clear that while HPCDP has identified policy options, it will be up to each of you to determine what the most feasible policy option to peruse in your region is. We just want to support you all with that. : )
Thanks everyone, have a great long weekend!
Best,
Leah

Hello SW RSN,
I hope this email finds you all well.
Sorry for my delay in following up regarding the Swing POS/TRL training with Michael Tynan. I want to make sure we are all on the same page. For this fiscal year, there is no longer a required RSN in-person training that you need to attend. In the past, that was the case. However, this year the format was changed to the 6 in-person training opportunities throughout Oregon, where you are required to attend at least one of them, but it does not have to be in your region. Several of these have already occurred. You can reference the attached document for a refresher if need be. Attending one of these 6 trainings, fulfills (what use to be the required in person RSN training that you have had in the past) your required in person training for this year.
Therefore, the swing is all we need to focus on.
There will be a swing in every region with the overall theme being Enforce from the MPOWER framework. It will be a day long training and state staff here are working to finalize a day-long training curriculum that aids RSNs/Counties in determining what policy option(s) are feasible/realistic for each region/each county based on retail assessments. The training will include strategy development activities like power mapping, and conversations with colleagues based on your assessments/analysis. The good news, I mentioned our previous conversations and planning to the team here and they are on board with our training focusing on TRL, coupled with work time/skill building training about policy selection process. Due to our enthusiastic approach however, March may not be the most realistic time line.
The overall big picture planning for the swings is moving along slowly but surely. Leah Fisher, Community Programs Liaison and Susan Dietz, Workforce Capacity Coordinator, are taking the lead on these and sorting out logistics. They will be organizing the ask to Michael and should be able to find out his ability to get involved by late next week or early the following. The consensus is that he will be pretty busy the month of March and it would be best to move our training back to April.
Therefore, can we do another doodle poll for the month of April? Sorry to have to repeat this, but we were just a little too ahead of the game. I would suggest marking all days that you are free for the month so we can give Michael several options to choose from based on his availability. The last poll was concerning to me in that there really wasn't one day a lot of us could attend a training. Perhaps pushing it back will allow for our calendars to not be as full ensuring we all can attend.
I also want to confirm the location. Did we decide on Medford for the location? Once this is confirmed, our Susan (workforce capacity) can look at venues to hold the training.
Here is what we need to do:
1) Another doodle poll for April - who would like to organize this?
2) Confirm the location of the training - please email me, replying to all, if you know
3) Let Leah know what days work for our RSN so the ask can be made to Michael
4) Draft some key areas you hope to learn about for the training
Please follow up from this email by COB 2.21. I hope this makes sense. Please email me with any questions.
Thank you again for your patience, I hope you have a great weekend!

Jenica
