Hello Coordinators,
Following is information on two timely communications initiatives:
* The TID "Cookbook" for earned media and grassroots ideas
* Schedule and invite for upcoming focus groups
TID Cookbook
Attached is the TID Cookbook which provides more information about the earned media and grass roots ideas presented in the required webinar earlier this month. Think of this truly as a "cookbook," with ideas for you to create and modify as you wish. Each idea comes with an introduction of what the idea will be useful for, a list of suggested ingredients and then directions for how to carry it out. Several of the ideas have "add-on ingredient" sections that offer templates for news releases you can cater to your own needs or talking points you can sprinkle with your own community's data. The more you can infuse these activities with your own local stories and data, the more compelling and interesting you will make it for your local decision makers, your community and the news media. Feel free to be creative and customize these ideas to your own situation and needs.
The Cookbook will also be available today on HPCDP Connection at: https://partners.health.oregon.gov/Partners/HPCDPConnection/Tobacco/Pages/TobaccoMedia.aspx
Please let your liaison and/or me know how you are using the Cookbook. Time to get cooking!
Focus Groups
HPCDP has initiated research efforts to elicit input from members of groups experiencing disparities about the impacts of tobacco on their communities and insight into how to talk with them about those issues in a manner that is culturally sensitive. The information and insight gained here will inform TID communications efforts moving forward.
You are invited to observe these focus groups in person or virtually. Groups will be available for live viewing online. A link will be sent to you a few days in advance of the groups. If you're planning on attending in person, please let me know in advance to ensure enough seating for everyone.
All groups will be held at VuPoint in downtown Portland.
