[HealthyTribes] Additional communications resources: Smoke-free Father's Day

Good morning, County and Tribal TPEP.

Holidays and observances are always an opportunity for tailored social media. Father's Day is coming up on June 17, 2018 and is a good time to share messages about how tobacco affects men and families.

I've attached two resources from Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids:

  *   A fact sheet with state-specific data on the burden of tobacco use among men - including smoking rates and the number of dads lost to smoking.
  *   A Father's Day fact sheet for dads who want to help keep their kids from smoking.

The CDC Tips from Former Smokers campaign, which you may have seen on the air recently, also has ads that will resonate on Father's Day. For video and print resources, check out:

  *   Roosevelt's Story<https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/campaign/tips/stories/roosevelt.html> - Roosevelt had a heart attack at age 45 and talks about not being able to play basketball with his sons. His family's support (and loving nagging) helped him to quit.
  *   Michael's Story<https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/campaign/tips/stories/michael.html> - Michael is a veteran, Alaska Native, and member of the Tlingit tribe who suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
  *   Rico's Story<https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/campaign/tips/stories/rico.html> - Rico started smoking at age 14 and was diagnosed with cancer at age 45. Includes Spanish-language resources.
