Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) - November 20th


TDoR, founded as a response to the murder of Rita Hester in 1998, has been held every year to honor the lives of transgender people who have been murdered because of their gender identity. The day also draws attention to the violence that transgender people continue to face as result of transphobia.

HIV Prevention and Testing Access Learning Collaborative - 2022


December 14th 2022 - March 8th 2023

The National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center is proud to announce the 2022 HIV Prevention and Testing Access Learning Collaborative! The learning collaborative sessions will focus on the identification and sharing of effective models and tools, adapting models, planning for implementation, and setting up a framework to evaluate the outcomes.



Participants will learn about well-researched methods of delivering high-quality, culturally affirming HIV prevention care for LGBTQIA+ people. Your health center will work alongside other health centers to create systems of care that support LGBTQIA+ patients.



Participation guidelines:


·     Organizations must be Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's) or FQHC look-alikes to participate.


·     Health center staff will participate in all 4 sessions and will be asked about buy-in from leadership on the program requirements including attendance. Sessions will run the second Wednesday of the month starting in December and will run from 1:00 PM EST to 2:00 PM EST. The dates will be as follows: 
·     December 14th, 2022
·     January 11th, 2023
·     February 8th 2023
·     March 8th 2023



Health centers who participate in the HIV Prevention Learning Collaborative will be asked to develop and implement strategies to improve HIV prevention, testing, or linkage to care. All participants will complete readiness assessments at the beginning of the project and at the close of the project. Participation will take place through a video conference link. Additional support for participating health care organizations will be offered through ongoing technical assistance as needed.



To participate in The HIV Learning Collaborative you must:
·     Have team members who can attend all 4 sessions
·     Participate actively
·     Be a FQHC or look-alike.

This toolkit was developed in recognition of the need for resources among providers and health care staff to create a welcoming, affirming, and safe environment for transgender and gender diverse (TGD) children, adolescents, and their families. Families and caregivers are increasingly seeking out pediatricians and mental health providers for education, treatment, and services related to gender-affirming care.
