[lstac] Programming grants with predefined activities/purchases

One grant program we've run for years is a Preservation Assessment<https://mblc.state.ma.us/programs-and-support/lsta/grant-opportunities/mini-preservation-assessment.php>. We give libraries a set amount of funding and they can hire a qualified assessor from a list we have. The entire funding amount must go to that assessor. The libraries receive a report that identifies preservation priorities. We outline the minimum expectations of what must be included in the report.

Libraries have found the process immensely helpful, usually because they don't have an archival background, and this gives them very clear guidance. It also has the added benefit of being available for future staff when the inevitable turnover happens.

Is anyone doing a small grant program where libraries select from a list of programs with set activities, a list of allowable purchases for that activity and set outcomes? Kind of a program in a box grant? If you do, I am interested in what programs you selected and especially the purchasing list.

I'm trying to restart our small grant program without having to review 100/150 applications that are all over the place in terms of allowable activities or purchases.
