Acrylic paint usually dries very fast - that is one of its characteristics. My guess is that the paint was applied too thin so it actually ran during the application of the paint on a slick, vertical surface. It might just be easier to reapply thicker layers of acrylic on top of the areas that ran and leave the areas that dried alone. The original painting must be dry throughout the entire surface by now, so an additional layer of paint can easily be applied on top. I don't know anything about heaters, but I'm an artist and that's what I would do. Donna Sanson, Beaverton Downtown Association

Thanks all for the input!! I think a construction propane heater may be the way to go, while they're fixing it up.
Looks like the acrylic that dried sooner is doing just fine.
So disappointing for the kids, but we learn from these things! Easy fixes, I think.
Happy Holidays to everyone! See you in January!

Kelly, call the local Sherwin Williams store for help.
I believe that there is a spray product that may be used for fixative over acrylic paint. The art teacher should also have ideas. It may take a salamander-type heater as a short-term drying solution, and a local contractor should be able to provide one, preferably a propane type, instead of a diesel fired one.

Yesterday, our high school art class took the school day to paint us a beautiful mural, all about the town, in the vacant windows of a large storefront.
They used acrylic paint.
This morning, some of the panels are running!!
Unfortunately, the building is not climate controlled and, therefore, is obviously damp.
Has anyone had any success in these less-than-desirable conditions?
I'm so disappointed for them, they worked really hard to get it done, and the results are so lovely and colorful. (and somewhat drippy).
Thanks very much! I'm hoping to have some ideas before talking to the art teacher. :)
Best Regards, and happy holidays!
