[OMS_MANAGERS] Alcohol allowed with dining on the sidewalks

Good morning!
Continuing the alcohol theme....
Our City ordinances specifically prohibit any alcohol in any open container
on any street at any time.....
With our new restaurants, and our wish for sidewalk tables to increase
downtown activity, we find this extremely prohibitive.
I'm looking for examples or ordinances that allow drinks with meals,
obviously under OLCC regulations as well, outside establishments.
(I'd also love to have them allow events with alcohol in the park, but
we'll pick that battle some other time)
Sheri, do you have any statistics to show that drinks in contained areas
have/have not caused issues, or even made a downtown safer because of the
increase of people presence on the streets?
Thanks all!
Regards,
