  1. Big thank you to Kat Rutledge for joining us on our Mornings on Main call this morning to provide the most recent updates on pandemic assistance. Attached is a copy of her PPT and here's a link to the recording:

  1. Attached is a new publication from the National Main Street Center, Building a Community Entrepreneurship Ecosystem - a self-guided training for communities with funding from the Ewing Marion Kaufman Foundation. What I really like about this publication is how it marries entrepreneur ecosystem concepts w/the Main Street 4-Pt Approach.
  2. Hope all who attended the Main Street Now Conference this week walked about with good ideas and are inspired to continue the good work you are doing! I suggest we have folks share some of the highlights from your favorite session at the conference at our next Mornings on Main call.
  3. Next Week, April 18-24, Is National Volunteer Appreciation Week - It's Not Too Late To Thank Your Volunteers! Volunteers are the lifeblood of many of our heritage organizations - we truly can't accomplish all the good work we do without them! From board positions to event volunteers, they make a difference. National Volunteer Week debuted in the United States in 1974. In his proclamation declaring National Volunteer Week, President Richard Nixon urged all Americans to observe the week by seeking out a volunteer opportunity. He also called upon all communities to "recognize volunteers by observing the week with special ceremonies to honor those who have given countless hours for the betterment of our communities and the American way of life." Recognizing volunteers should be on-going activity for every organization. Need some inspiration, check out our previous blog post<o%09Can%20reshare%20the%20blog%20post%20on%20volunteer%20appreciation%20ideas%20frhttps:/oregonheritage.wordpress.com/2021/03/26/volunteer-appreciation-more-important-than-ever/> chalk full of ideas you can borrow!
  4. Grant opportunities:
     * Oregon Heritage Grant Deadlines Fast Approaching. The deadlines for Oregon Heritage's Historic Cemetery, Oregon Museum Grant, and Diamonds in the Rough are coming up in May:

Oregon Museum Grant: May 5, 2021. The Oregon Museum Grant supports Oregon, public and nonprofit, museums in projects for the collection and management of heritage collections, for heritage-related tourism, and heritage education and interpretations.

Diamonds in the Rough Deadline: May 14, 2021. Grants are to restore or reconstruct the facades of buildings that have been heavily altered over the years.
