[OMS_MANAGERS] Package stores downtown?

Hi Liz,
It’s too bad it’s taking up a prime retail space. I’m sure you already thought of this, but by chance is there an alternate location you might offer? Maybe even switch it with another business? ADA was instrumental in relocating Lovelace Floral to free up the space adjacent to The Pix Theatre to create its amazing lobby (history<https://www.albanypix.com/page/5994/About-Pix>).
We had a liquior store Downtown on 4th Ave., a couple of blocks from our prime retail. A few years ago, it moved to North Albany to be inside the new grocery store which also has an Ace Hardware inside it. While it’s great to shop fr groceries and liquor in one top, I’ve gotta say don’t love the smell of the paint department when I’m grabbing milk. As a Downtown resident, I see it as a loss as I now have to travel further for my quarterly shopping. I didn’t have any interaction with it as a Downtown manager.
A liquor store opened in Springfield when I was working there. It was classy and felt high-end. They had some specialty liquors in glass tower cases. It was the first place I saw liquor with a pear grown in the bottle. They carried a nice selection of gift boxed liquor samplers and bar items. They opened a similar one in Corvallis a few years later.
I hope yours feels like retail.
[Manguin Pear In A Bottle]
Cheers,
Lise Grato

Hey Liz --
We have one on Pioneer Boulevard -- if you were to look at a map of Sandy, it would literally be at the very center of downtown. They have been there for...20 years?
They have been a good tenant and have maintained the building very well. Very clean and professional. They even participated in some of our downtown events back when we had an active Main Street organization. We have had zero issues with them.

Does anyone else have a liquor store downtown? Or an ordinance making it an unallowable use?
OLCC just approved a liquor store in Oregon City and because of our mixed use code, the liquor store will be moving into one of our best retail spots in downtown. It's probably too late to do anything about this one - the City Commission even disapproved their license for a downtown location and the OLCC overrode it - but my EV committee is interested in seeing if there were any other communities that have dealt with this or found a good solution.
Thanks!
