Fall 2023 Small Business Survey
The Main Street America Research team is excited to kick-off our Fall 2023 Small Business Survey<https://mainstreet.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=881199cb2d0b2894c01ba06c1&id=312aae44c6&e=3311a8ecb5>. MSA invites you to encourage your local programs to share it with the small business owners in their communities. This survey is designed to be shorter and simpler, and focused on identifying strengths of the Main Street network and some potential pathways to deepening our impact. It is available in English and Spanish. Responses from small business owners are welcome through Monday, November 20. The survey is tailored to, and primarily intended for, small business owners, however other local leaders are free to review the survey and respond to the questions. Survey results will be shared in December.

In Case You Missed It
Meet Three Women Leading Main Streets and Small Businesses
Main Street America's Spring 2023 Small Business Survey found that 61% of respondents stated that their business was woman-owned. Many of these business owners are introduced to the Main Street Movement through their downtown presence, and some go on to become volunteers, board members, and executive directors. Associate Manager of Content and Communications Marta Olmos spoke to Kirsten Gjesdal, owner of The Carrot Seed Kitchen Co. and Executive Director at Downtown Brookings; Andrea Zwiebel, owner of Small Onion Studio and Executive Director at Downtown Wabash; and Stephanie Burden, owner of The Flower Depot and Executive Director at Cynthiana Main Street; to learn more about the intersections of Main Street leadership and small business ownership. A Walk Down Main Street for National Pedestrian Safety Month

We cannot foster vibrant, walkable communities if people are put in danger by walking down the sidewalks. Marta Olmos, Associate Manager of Content and Communications, explored resources you can use to understand the state of pedestrian safety in your community and design techniques to promote safe driving and walking. From road diets to federal funding opportunities, get the tools to improve safety in your community.
