Leslie: Again thanks for your help. I've run into the "Name Game" on my mothers's side of our family. Her maiden name was Cora Belle DYE. When I tracked the Dye name back I found that through time the name changed.
The first was DUYTZ as the family left Denmark, then came DEE, Then DAY, then DYE. In early times few people could read and /or write, and often people would dictate there messages to a writer . Depending on the period of the times and accent of the speaker the spelling and pronounciation the name could and did get changed. Just say DYE with a middle English accent and it comes out somethin close to DYE.
