A new University of Oregon website offers online access to articles from 18 Oregon newspapers published from 1846 to 1922.
KEZI reported the newly launched website, called "Historic Oregon Newspapers," allows unprecedented access to original historical texts, all published by Oregon journalists.
Newspapers published on the site include The Oregonian, Salem Capital Journal, Sumpter Miner, Jacksonville Oregon Sentinel, Portland New Age, The New Northwest, and Abigail Scott Duniway's Suffragist Journal.
Funded by several grants, the website has been in the works for more than two years. - The Associated Press

OR-Rooters,
I think there have already been some posts about this project but the site is now offically launched…
http://oregonnews.uoregon.edu/
This is a great site which allows full text searches on the images. More images and titles will continue to be added. Several other states have similar projects. (Utah and Colorado are the ones I am most familiar with) Some to the newspaper titles are hosted at the Library of Congress so you should also check their site particularly for other states you might be researching.
Enjoy
Layne
