RE: Oregon Response to Intervention (Or-RTI) Applications Extended
Given feedback to the Oregon Department of Education that several school districts had not received notice of the application process for the Or-RTI initiative, ODE has decided to extend the deadline for applications until APRIL 17, 2009.
The Oregon Department of Education has proudly supported the Or-RTI initiative over the past four years. In conjunction with our partner, Tigard-Tualatin School District, 29 school districts from all across Oregon have received funding, training, and technical assistance to build district capacity for the adoption and implementation of RTI.
Each of these school districts has taught us how important a common framework is for successful RTI implementation and that applying the framework to the unique needs of each district is a necessary component of successful implementation. The districts have also taught us that RTI belongs to multiple stakeholders within a district, including, but not limited to, general and special education. Applying the framework within general and special education is critical for the success of RTI in each district.
ODE is committed to maintaining and furthering the work within the RTI framework and is pleased to announce the fifth round of applications. Please find the attached application, which is also posted online at: http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=2502
