SMOKE MANAGEMENT FORECAST AND INSTRUCTIONS
SALEM FORESTRY WEATHER CENTER
OREGON DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY
ISSUED: Saturday, October 17, 2009 2:40 PM Nick Yonker
1. DISCUSSION AND FORECAST FOR SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON ZONES 624 AND 625
Front and upper level trough will move across the region later today and tonight bringing mainly some increasing cloud cover over the region. Most moisture will stay to the north of the region. Minor ridging builds in early Sunday providing some modest stabilization. Expect fair skies on Sunday with variable clouds. Wind flow will be fairly light but with decent afternoon mixing, will make for fair to good smoke dispersion.
OUTLOOK (MONDAY - WEDNESDAY):
Front and upper level low move into the region early Monday providing a better chance of moisture. Low moves through Monday afternoon and gives way to a minor ridge that will develop over the state on Tuesday. Again, this ridge will provide just brief and minor stabilization. Another minor front will approach on Wednesday bringing another chance of some light rain mainly to the north. Smoke dispersion should be mostly good through the period under this progressive weather pattern.
