⁠This hybrid training will be held at Maxwell Community Hub in Eugene and also streamed live on Google Meet, so you can join us in whichever way feels best for you. Together, we’ll explore what it means to volunteer with TransPonder, share upcoming opportunities, and offer special training for those who’d like to support our Extra Serving and Free Food Program.⁠

Motivational Interviewing (MI), with a special focus on tobacco use and treatment
Date: Monday, September 29, 2025
Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Format: Live, Virtual, and Interactive
CEUs: 6.5 MHACBO Approved CEUs
Cost: Free for providers and staff serving OHP clients in Lane County, Reedsport, and Harrisburg
•          $40 for all other participants

This one-day course offers an introduction to the Motivational Interviewing (MI) framework, with a special focus on tobacco use and treatment. It’s ideal for behavioral and medical health professionals, case managers, nurses, traditional health workers, and others in helping professions—especially those new to MI or looking to refresh their skills.
The training will cover:
•          Readiness for change model
•          Spirit of MI
•          Common communication barriers
•          OARS skills
•          Practical application through group discussion and breakout sessions
Trainer: Lisa Carlson, LMFT — a certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist and experienced presenter in mental health and addiction topics.
