New Wealth Inequity: Understanding the Impact of Poverty on Families Health
And
Reviewing and Collecting Data on Deaths During the COVID-19 Pandemic

We invite you to join the National Center for Fatality Review and Prevention for a webinar, exploring wealth inequity and how poverty impacts families’ overall health and the ability to safely provide for and care for their children.  Keynote speaker Kay Johnson will unpack how the lack of accumulated wealth and resources among families, especially families of color, has been impacted by COVID-19.  The National Center hopes to equip case review teams with ways to lead non-judgmental discussions of the impacts of poverty and ways these experiences may be observed in the records or in the fatality review process. Please join the National Center on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, from 2:00- 3:00 PM Eastern for the webinar Reviewing and Collecting Data on Deaths During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Abby Collier, the National Center director, will introduce a new section I8 in the National Fatality Review-Case Reporting System. This new section consists of five questions specific to deaths that took place during the COVID-19 pandemic. She will explain how the questions should be answered and provide interactive scenarios to practice identifying the relationship between a child’s death and the pandemic.
