Hello ADPEP, TPEP, and RHEC Coordinators and Partners,
Attached is a document with results from the 2018 HPCDP Online Panel Survey. The panel survey is a web-based questionnaire given to Oregon adults (age 18+) about attitudes, knowledge, and behaviors around alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana use in Oregon.
HPCDP uses this online survey to get timely feedback about issues related to strategic priorities around health and wellness. You can use these data to support your messages - in presentations or talking points you create for conversations with local leaders and decisionmakers. Consider including a data point and a compelling story to make your messages more impactful.
Examples of some of the new data for 2018:
* 42% of Oregon adults say that drinking alcohol has been a cause of trouble in their family
* 33% of Oregon adults say that they have been bothered by marijuana smoke, vapor, or odor in the past 30 days
* 78% of Oregon adults agree that all businesses should be smoke- and vape-free indoors
Examples of other topics include:
* Alcohol: Attitudes about the effects of alcohol on society and the community, opinion about the industry, and the availability and product variety for beer, wine, and liquor
* Tobacco: Perceived harm from secondhand exposure, support for tobacco retail licensing, and support fo tobacco taxes
* Marijuana: Attitudes about harm of secondhand marijuana smoke or vapor, perceived amount of advertising, and public use
We field a new survey at least once a year, so estimates for many topic measures will be updated annually. Please keep this in mind and make sure you are using the latest data. We will send updates when available, but recommend that you check in with your liaison or regional support team if your version of the Panel Survey results is more than one year old.
If you have any questions about the survey, the result presented, or how to use them, please contact your Community Programs Liaison.
Thanks,
