Please see below and attached for a new training resource on Sex Worker Health and Harm Reduction 101. The training materials include customizable PowerPoint slides which are designed to provide an overview of sex worker health and harm reduction philosophy.

Also, NASTAD’s Drug User Health Team and the Sex Worker Health and Harm Reduction Workgroup host a bimonthly Sex Worker Health and Harm Reduction Technical Assistance (TA) call. This call is for harm reduction programs and SSPs serving or interested in expanding services for people engaged in sex work. The call series is intended to serve as a space to facilitate connections and resource sharing, encourage peer support, offer TA and capacity building, and raise priorities of sex worker health in relation to harm reduction with national partners. NASTAD developed these training resources with Reframe Health and Justice, in consultation with our regional TA consultants, other harm reduction subject matter experts, and NASTAD staff.

These materials are customizable for in-house staff training purposes. This project was designed for use by health departments and community-based syringe services programs (SSPs) to introduce participants to sex work, sex worker health, and the intersection of harm reduction. Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to define sex work and harm reduction, define who participates in the sex trade, identify barriers to care for people who trade sex, and understand strategies to address anti-sex worker stigma in organizational practices.
